March 29, 2006:  So I decide to truck Mia up to Kiddie Kandids in
Babies'R'Us this morning for her 18 month/6 month anniversary photos- a
1 1/2 hour drive one way mind you.  She wrestles with me when I put on
her cute dress in the morning- should have been mommy's first clue.  We
finally get there after a lot of traffic delays, wait in line, and get ready for the
photos.  I try to put her on stage and she gets scared and clings to
mommy for dear life.  Her only words are "no, no, no" in her cute little
voice.  The photographer and I try to coax her and make it fun, but no such
luck.  We come out of it with zero photos.  So much for Mia's debut as a
model!  To curb my disappoint, Mia and I did some retail therapy.  We
went to Toys'R'Us.  While there, Mia saw a police car that you ride in and
wouldn't get out of it.  I called daddy on the phone and told him we would
be late!  I had to buy a cute pink coupe car  after seeing how much she
loved sitting in one.  I also got her a basketball hoop and ball.  Mia loves
her new toys and didn't  want to go to sleep tonight.  She just wanted to
ride around in her new car with her basketball.  She is a cute little girl.
Mia playing peek-a-boo in her closet with Mommy!
"Daddy, are you almost done putting together my new pink coupe?"
"My new wheels are so awesome!"
April 1, 2006:  Happy April Fool's Day!  Mia and I had a great day today.  We almost put
together her new playground, but realized we needed daddy's help to finish it.  Mia was
able to slide down one slide a few times- fun.  In the afternoon, we met a few of my friends
at the local pool.  There was a large pool and a small kiddie water area where water
squirts out of holes and various statues.  This was the first time that Mia actually went
swimming in a large pool and she LOVED it.  We have a true water lover on our hands.
She was afraid of the kiddie water park at first, but loved it in the end.  I am going to bring
her to swimming lessons this summer and get that girl in the water a lot more.  I wouldn't
be surprised if she became an Olympic high diver or something!  She loves water and she
has no fear.  We also discovered another one of her loves- pastina.  She loves to eat it with
butter and salt.  It is so messy, but very tasty as far as she is concerned!  Now, an
important stock tip--  buy Charmin stock!  We bought Mia a little toilet seat to go on top of
our big toilet seat.  She thinks it is so cool and will use it periodically throughout the day-
even with her clothes on.  She likes to sit on it and then "pretend wipe" with a whole roll of
toilet paper! The best part is flushing the toilet and watching the toilet paper go bye-bye.
She actually used the toilet yesterday morning.  She peed and then jumped off the seat
and continued peeing on the floor.  I was impressed.  She is definitely interested in the
potty so we will continue to use it on her terms.  Off to sleep now.  Have to set the clock
ahead an hour so we will be losing sleep tonight.  Bummer.
It's a slam dunk- I love to play basketball!
April 30, 2006:  I am finally updating the site!  It has been a busy month...
Our six month anniversary with Mia has come and gone. It is amazing to think that we have
already had Mia home with us for over six months.  What an incredible six months it has been!
We had our post-placement visit with our social worker and Mia slept almost the entire time
she was here.  Mia then woke up crabby, but snapped out of it right as our social worker was
leaving.  I found out from our nanny that she hadn't napped that entire day.  We also used this
visit with our social worker as our first home study meeting for Liberty!  Last week, we were
officially accepted by CCAI to begin our second adoption for our daughter, Liberty (Liby) Grace
Milchman.  We will not be submitting paperwork to China until sometime near the end of the
year and then we should receive Liby's referral about a year or so after that- a long wait!
Mia had fun celebrating her first Easter with us.  We went to two different Easter parties and the
Easter bunny left her a special sand bucket filled with goodies!  Mia went on an Easter egg
hunt at the first party and found eggs that had money in them!  The second party was a pool
party so we swam all afternoon (which was a good thing since it was hot out!).
Uncle Brody came to visit for a long weekend.  It was his birthday so we celebrated together.
Mommy and Daddy went out on a date for the first time since becoming parents.  We went to a
wedding up in Miami.  It was fun, but we thought about Mia the whole time!  Mia did great.  She
stayed with Nanny Jane.
Some updates...
New food likes:  peanut butter m&m's, orzo, edamame, chicken, cinnamon coffee cake
Some new words:  ah-choo(when someone sneezes), two, blue, bite, girl, pool, chair, pooh
(she likes Pooh Bear all of a sudden), I do, I know, po (this means up in Chinese)
, bean, ray
The Easter bunny left me some
new crayons, a coloring book, a
bunny board book, some
sidewalk chalk, a Wiggles CD,
The Velveteen Rabbit DVD, and
a sparkly My Pretty Pony and
brush!  It was all in a sand pail.
Happy Easter!
Finding Easter eggs is hard work.
Mommy and Daddy are
almost ready for the wedding!
It will be fun, but we will miss
our little girl.
I love my Uncle Brody!

I'm Home!
We went to the zoo and saw lions and tigers and bears, oh my!  It was so
much fun.  Mia loved seeing the animals, especially the lions and
elephants.  She likes to make different animal noises and makes
mommy and daddy laugh.
