On, where does the time go?!?!?!?  October was a busy and fun-filled month that flew by way too quickly.
Let me recap some of the highlights:

Visitors and Birthday Celebrations:  Uncle Scot and Pa came to visit at the beginning of the month
which was lots of fun.  On the day they left, Grandma K and Uncle Walker arrived for a visit.  They were
here to celebrate Mia's second birthday on October 6!  While they were visiting, Mia and I were both
getting over colds and then Daddy ended up with a cold on the day of Mia's birthday.  Thus, he stayed
home while we celebrated Mia's birthday up in Miami.  Grandma K, Walker, Mia, and I went up to Miami
Beach to eat at Miss Yip Restaurant with some other families that have adopted children from China in
honor of the Chinese Harvest Moon Festival.  Everyone then walked down to the beach carrying white
balloons (causing quite a beautiful scene!) to make a wish and release them over the water.  On the way
home, Grandma K and Walker did some shopping too!  It was a memorable birthday.   The next day, we
celebrated Mia's birthday again with an ice cream cake in the shape of an M&M!  Mia received some very
nice gifts including a cute ladybug playhouse and a huge kitchen play center (which took me about 5
hours to put together!).  She has been loving her new birthday gifts!  Cannot wait for Christmas to come
around!

Little Farm Fun:  Mia and I went to a little farm up in Homestead right before Halloween with some
friends.  We saw some animals, went to a petting zoo area, played in pumpkins, and rode a horse.
Well, actually, Mia's two friends rode the horse- Mia decided the horse was not for her (although she very
much likes horses).  It was a great time.  I met a family who was considering adopting from China so I
chatted with them for a while.

Halloween Trick or Treats:  We were lucky enough to be invited to some pre-Halloween celebrations
which were tons of fun.
Mia decorated her pumpkin with spooky Halloween stickers.  Our neighborhood
gets really crazy on Halloween night, but we went out and joined the fun.  Mia wore a cheerleading style
dress that she had been given from Aunt Shelly along with her NIkes, pom poms and a ribbon in her
hair.  Next year we will do a real costume, but she sure looked cute this year!  We met up with some
friends and hung out at their houses for a while.  Then Mia decided she was done and said, "Home,
home, home."  So we walked home and went to bed!

Mia's Little Sister:  We sent our paperwork  to CCAI for Mia's little sister!  Now we just wait, wait, wait.

Scribble News:  Mia discovered that scribbling on the walls, floor, and windows of our house is much
more fun than using all of the paper and coloring books that she has... especially when it is a black
permanent sharpie!  Anyone know how to get it off???

I'm Home!

October 10, 2006- The one year anniversary of our forever family!

If we had to do it over again
Adoption is what we'd choose
We got more than we had hoped for
The day we adopted you
For you have given us more in life
Than we could ever want or need
You made our house into a home
And made our family complete
We love you more than life itself
For all the things you say and do
And if we had it to do over again
You'd be the only one we'd choose.

We love you Mia Belle!
Happy one year anniversary with your forever family.
Love, Mommy and Daddy
