October 6: We begin our journey to China on Mia's first birthday! Our flight route is Miami-LA on American Airlines and then LA-Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific.
October 8: Arrive in Hong Kong at 5:40 a.m. and meet the rest of our group at the airport. Go to the Grand Stanford Intercontinental Hotel. Free exploration in Hong
Kong... fun!
October 9: Leave Hong Kong in the early evening and fly to Nanning, Guangxi. This is our daughter's province. We will stay at the Wharton International Hotel.
*October 10*: Gotcha day! We have a group meeting to fill out Adoption Registration forms in the morning. We then go by bus to the Lottery Hotel to receive Mia in
the afternoon! This is the day we are most looking forward to.
October 11: We complete our Adoption Registration, Adoption Notarization and apply for Mia's passport in the morning. Family time in the afternoon.
October 12: An optional group shopping trip to a local department store in the morning. Waiting for Mia’s adoption paperwork to be completed.
October 13: Optional half-day city tour is available. Still waiting for Mia’s adoption paperwork to be completed.
October 14: Optional half-day city tour is available. We receive Mia’s registration certificate, notarized adoption documents and passport today in the afternoon.
Yippee!! Begin packing for Guangzhou.
October 15: Leave Nanning for Guangzhou, Guangdong in the morning. Go to the infamous White Swan Hotel. We will walk to the clinic to have Mia's visa physical
and visa photo taken in the morning. In the afternoon, we have a group meeting (only 1 parent is allowed to go) to prepare paperwork for our consulate appointment.
October 16: Free time. Rest, shop, tour.
October 17: Today is our Consulate appointment!
October 18: We go to the U.S. Consulate to take our oath in the afternoon. We will receive Mia’s visa packet at the conclusion of the oath ceremony.
October 19: We leave Guangzhou and fly to Hong Kong. We then leave for the U.S. a few hours later.
October 20: Welcome to your new home Mia! We arrive in Miami at 5:40 a.m. Mia is finally home!
