My husband and I met in college and were great friends from the start.
Upon graduation, Jon moved to the Florida Keys to guide and fish while I
went overseas to teach.  After living abroad for five years, I moved back to
the states and caught up with Jon again.  We started dating, I moved down
to the Keys, we bought a house, got a dog (our first baby- Stella), and were
married soon after.

In May of 2004, my husband and I began the process of adopting our
daughter, Mia, from China.  Since then we have been working hard to bring
Mia home.  As of January 26, all of our paperwork was logged into China.
On July 29, we received Mia's referral!  She is perfect.  We travel to China
on Oct. 6 to bring her home.

Throughout our adoption process, I have been eager to share our adoption
news with anyone that will listen.  One day, I had a thought... I could share
my excitement by handing out red bracelets to family and friends (red
represents good luck in China).  I designed a red bracelet debossed with the
words "RED THREAD" to symbolize the ancient Chinese belief that a red
thread connects those destined to meet in life.  I added the Chinese
character for family:        after the words "RED THREAD".  This message is
meaningful to us.

The red thread to Mia is growing shorter every day!
