Nanning We started the day at about 4 a.m. this morning.  Mia did not sleep so well last night and we were up early.  However, she was happier this morning because she felt much better today.  That made us happy.  We played, took a bath, and had breakfast.  She is quite the good eater!  Jon said she is like a little bird- she just reaches out to your hand for the food and keeps eating and eating!  She also discovered the kleenex in the bathroom and decided to pull out each piece.  It was really humorous!  Later, we went to a department store  and bought squeaky shoes.  Actually, we bought three pairs of shoes- 2 that squeak.  Tomorrow we will give them a try.  There was a small play area in the shoe store where Mia went and played.  Some of the photos below are from the store playtime.   After shopping, we came back to the hotel, fed Mia a bottle and thought she would take a nap.  No such luck so we decided to go for a walk around the lake by the hotel.  It was nice and Mia sat in the stroller for the first time.  The group was going out to dinner, but we decided to skip it because I knew Mia would be getting very cranky around that time.  We didn't want to get room service after last night (I ordered a plain hamburger and when it arrived, it was just a toasted bun!  No beef, no nothing!  It was so funny that I took a picture.  Obviously a communication problem.).  So the Milchman family went to dinner in a very cool Chinese restaurant right here in the hotel.  The restaurant has windows all around so you can see the cooks making your authentic Chinese food while you wait.   We didn't get anything too crazy, such as the stewed pig's blood or braised duck's jaw!  And the food was actually quite good - we will definitely go back again.    Mia had fun watching a man make hand-pulled noodles for mommy.  Mia ate a ton of noodles and beef congee.  When we got back to the room, she was unhappy because she was overtired.  She loves staying awake and has really been fighting the sleep off.  Daddy went to get another massage while mommy fed Mia a bottle and played peekaboo.  She eventually fell asleep next to me in bed where she still is right now.  Daddy is home laying next to her so I decided to update the site quickly.   Thanks to everyone who has sent words of encouragement.  It means a lot.  I am pasting some photos from our day.  Tomorrow we are going on a trip to a local park to see a pagoda and have Mia be blessed by a monk.  Will post more after our outing tomorrow!   Also, congratulations to Susan and Scot on their new baby!  I cannot wait for Emma and Mia to meet.   I miss you my marvelous first grade class.  I have bought a lot of things for the orphanage which I am going to donate from us this week.  Thanks! By the way mom, the little black dot that we saw on Mia's big toe in the photo is a birthmark!
