October 6-7...

Happy Birthday Mia! Travel Time! The sixth and seventh are our travel days. We leave Miami at 6:22 p.m. and arrive in LA at 8:48 pm. The flight is 5 hours and 26 minutes. We then leave LA at 11:55 p.m. and arrive in Hong Kong at 5:40 a.m. on October 8. That flight is just about 15 hours! And yes, that is over a day of travel. Good morning! Well today is October 6 and we all know what that means... it's Mia's birthday AND we leave today! It is rather symbolic that we are beginning our journey to Mia on her first birthday. Happy birthday honey! Jon and I have been very busy with last minute preparations, but I think we are almost ready to go. The suitcases are packed, but need to be weighed one last time. They can only weigh 44 pounds for our in-China travel and they are still a bit too heavy. My father-in-law made it here safe and sound last night. He will be watching the dog and the house. We cannot thank him enough! I sure didn't get much sleep last night- just a little excited about getting our baby girl!! We promise to post once we arrive in Hong Kong. Our plan is to explore Hong Kong all day although we will be exhausted. It is supposed to be a great city so we will take advantage of our one full day there. Next time we post, it will be from China! Talk to you all soon.

Above: Jon and I are out the door! This is the first photo on our journey to China. We are ready to go! To the right: Jon has found himself a quiet spot in the LA Airport. He is watching Napoleon Dynamite while we wait to board our plane for Hong Kong. The flight from Miami to LA was long, but fine. We watched a couple of movies and read books.
Of all the places to eat lunch before getting on our flight to China, we decide to eat a dim sum lunch. Here we are eating with Mike, our babysitter! I ended up getting really sick from this lunch which was such a pleasant way to start our journey. My stomach is feeling better now- thank goodness!
